A look at our Motto: Christ

Our purpose is that you may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that you may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that you may know the mystery of God, namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2

Colossians 2:3 “In [Christ] are hidden all treasures of wisdom and Knowledge

We stand on the side of God’s story in which we can know His greatest mystery: Christ. Throughout the Old Testament, Christ is alluded to through the prophets. His coming is promised, looked for, and longed for. Now, we do not have to long for Christ. We are fully known by Him, and we can know Him.

In knowing Christ, we come to know so much more about ourselves and each other. There are many bible reference that speak of Christ being in us and us being in Christ. A rather complex and sometimes confusing thought. But very simply, this beautiful connection we have with Christ gives us full permission to go on a treasure hunt.

Another of my all-time favourite scriptures is Proverbs 25:2, It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. God has tucked away many mysteries: hidden treasure for us to find. This hidden treasure is in the very nature of Christ; it is in us, and it is in the created world and universe.

Proverbs 25:2 really speaks to the core purpose of education; our core purpose. We are here to be treasure hunters and to enable our students to be treasure hunters. We want them to discover the talents, passions, character strengths and purpose God has tucked away in them at creation. We want them to, likewise, discover this about each other and to honour this treasure. We want them to discover the mysteries hidden away in this world – there is still so much to uncover that will reveal God’s majesty and prosper this world that he made. The treasures of wisdom and knowledge which are hidden in the nature of Christ are treasures worth seeking. To find these treasures, we need to seek Christ, and in doing so, everything else will follow.

To truly prepare our students to influence their world with integrity, we need them to know who they are, because to be a person of integrity you need to be yourself.
